User-Centred design; Enhancing customer experience
The process of creating experiences tailored to meet the customer's needs.
Businesses can create products and services tailored to their customers' needs, interests, and preferences. This approach focuses on improving customer experience through research, testing, and feedback to create a product that is easy to use, intuitive, and useful. User-centred design is important in today's Gen Z, as customers expect their online experiences to be customized to their needs. Businesses should focus on customer experiences, as it is becoming increasingly important in shaping the brand.
Every small-scale business and start-up needs to understand that the process of transforming a business using a customer-centric approach has a few guiding principles. Starting a business is the easy part of entrepreneurship. Keeping it afloat is the hardest. Fortune 500 companies weren't Fortune 500 without their fair share of hardship.
User experience is not about what the user wants. It's about what they need and what they desire. It's supply and demand but packed into one process. You have seen it in science fiction. A company creates a virus and releases it into the world while they are the only ones who have the cure. They are creating a demand for their product by causing a problem which only they can solve and then they solve it using their solution. Experience design is similar to this but in a positive and reinforcing way. You are creating an experience that the user may have never thought about or had any idea about and then you are making them crave more of it. You have created a demand for the type of experience only you can provide. Now you set a premium price for all your services. You solve their cravings and you satisfy your user's hunger for more of the experience only your brand can provide.
Ferrero Rocher can be a perfect example. They created an experience, a product, a chocolate like never before with all that hazel-nuts and Belgium chocolate. They patented their way of making chocolate. Now they are the only ones in the whole world who can provide a rich, premium experience in a box of chocolate. Now all they have to do is supply for the demand they have created and this demand is endless or seems endless until the next best chocolate brand comes up with some amazing experience design like never and that could be you! The feature was developed in collaboration with emergency services and was designed to be easy to use, even in high-stress situations. When activated, the feature automatically contacts the local emergency services and sends a message to the user's emergency contacts, informing them of the situation and the user's location. The feature also displays important medical information, such as allergies and blood type, which can be critical in an emergency situation.
The Apple Watch's 911 feature has since become an important safety tool for many users and has been credited with helping to save lives. Its success highlights the potential of technology to provide critical support in emergency situations and underscores the importance of designing products that prioritize user safety and well-being.
After years of being in use, Apple recognized the total number of 911 calls made using the emergency feature on their product and expanded it to all their other supported products. They also made an ad campaign promoting the ultimate use of the feature with the user's consent.
